The Masked Personality: A Case-Solving Story

☆ Highly sensitive, alluring beauty X gentleman with a hidden dark side and a dangerous streak

Wen Dong was blessed with gorgeous looks: fair skin, a slender figure, and a smile or frown that could make anyone's heart flutter.

He also had a secret ability: every day, for one hour, he could smell other people's emotions.

Different emotions gave off different scents.

Because of this, Wen Dong could easily see through the disguises of those around him.

Until he met Ji Lin.

Ji Lin was a criminal profiler specially appointed by the city's criminal investigation squad, and was known throughout the department as a warm, courteous gentleman.

He always gave off a clean, gentle scent of grass and wood, unlike anything Wen Dong had ever smelled before, with an emotion he couldn't identify.

-

Wen Dong had thought he would keep his unusual secret until the day he died.

But he was unexpectedly drawn into a murder case, and the victim was someone who had once pursued him.

To find the truth for his deceased former friend, Wen Dong gradually began using his special ability to help Ji Lin see through criminals' disguises and uncover their motives.

Yet Wen Dong could see through everyone except Ji Lin.

Ji Lin always smelled of the same grass and wood, and Wen Dong had never been able to discern his true emotions.

Even when Wen Dong wore his oversized shirt, his two pale legs swaying before him, Ji Lin remained completely unmoved. He even draped a coat over Wen Dong like a gentleman and said gently, "Don't catch a chill."

Wen Dong: ? Are you, like, completely uninterested in sex?

-

Until the night Wen Dong asked to break up with him.

Ji Lin pinned him against the wall, finally casting aside his gentle facade. With a flawless police restraint, he locked Wen Dong's wrists.

His low, husky voice brushed Wen Dong's ear. Ji Lin's fingers traced Wen Dong's lips. Though his words were full of menace, the corners of his lips still curved upward, and his voice was as soft as a lover's whisper. "Wen Dong, don't think about running away. Otherwise, I won't be able to stop myself from hiding you away."

At that moment, Wen Dong smelled another scent on Ji Lin for the first time:

An intensely potent tequila, enveloping him completely, as if it could seep in through every pore.

Wen Dong knew exactly what that scent was: desire.

[A beast is caged inside me. For you, I'm willing to shed my disguise and accept the shackles.]
