Seven Days with Edogawa Conan

When the door opened, the air conditioner in the room switched on automatically, making the living room curtains flutter slightly.

The curtains were made of semi-transparent white gauze, woven with subtle silver patterns of waves and goldfish. Sunlight shone through them, casting rippling shadows on the wooden floor.

In the dappled golden light sat a small boy, with black hair and large-framed glasses. He looked about seven or eight, with a handsome, almost delicate face, and he was wearing a rather KY blue suit. His body was also semi-transparent, faintly glimmering as if he were made of light.

Haibara Ai stared in shock, frozen in place. She thought she must be on the verge of hallucinating. She was seeing a ghost.

The boy across from her looked up. When he saw her, he raised a hand and greeted her with an easy familiarity: "Hey, Haibara."

His tone was perfectly ordinary, neither especially warm nor especially distant. It was the same old way he always spoke to her.

But the brown-haired girl couldn't quite keep her cool. Her thoughts short-circuited, and one huge question crushed all logic:

So she really was seeing a ghost?
