Angst / bittersweet / secret love becomes mutual / happy ending

A companion story to Reborn, I Married My Ex-Girlfriend

An independent side story that can be read on its own

Ji Chubon had a beloved she could never have.

Her beloved was rich and beautiful, but married. Yu Wenrou had met her once.

Yu Wenrou teased Ji Chubon: "So you have a thing for forbidden love?"

Ji Chubon was both embarrassed and annoyed. "Are you sick?"

On the wrap party night, her beloved arrived in a luxury car to take her wife home. Ji Chubon, eyes red, dragged Yu Wenrou out to drink all night.

After drinking too much and losing their inhibitions, Ji Chubon asked if she wanted to marry her.

Yu Wenrou's gaze darkened. "Sure."

On the day they went to register their marriage, Yu Wenrou gave Ji Chubon one chance to change her mind. "I'm a traditional person. I don't marry twice."

"Stop talking nonsense."

After they successfully got their marriage certificate, Yu Wenrou took the one Ji Chubon had been clutching. "Something as important as a marriage certificate should be kept safe. I'll hold on to yours."

Yu Wenrou smiled, looking utterly harmless.

There was no way Ji Chubon was getting away.

Not long after they married, Ji Chubon heard that her beloved was getting a divorce and stayed away all night.

Clutching their marriage certificate, Yu Wenrou asked with tears in her eyes, "Can we please not get divorced?"

When did I ever say I wanted a divorce?

Ji Chubon stared at Yu Wenrou and said, word by word, "I forgot to tell you. I'm traditional too. I don't marry twice."

Yu Wenrou tearfully asked her to explain.

Ji Chubon copied her earlier gesture, smiling brightly. "I said, I love you."
