Because I Like You

Bai Ran has always been the kind of child other parents point to: smart, sweet, and well-behaved.

Ye Zi's mother clasped her hands together. "Ah, I wish I had another wonderful son like that!"

To make her mother's dream come true, devoted Ye Zi resolves to win Bai Ran over and get him to call her mother "Mom!"

When they were seven

Ye Zi: "I'll give you a piece of candy. Let's get engaged!"

Bai Ran: "One piece seems a little stingy."

Ye Zi: "But it's the only one I have."

"All right, then." Bai Ran unwrapped the candy, bit off half, and put the other half in Ye Zi's mouth. "Should I call you my wife now?"

Years later, after a long separation, they meet again.

The adorable little boy has grown into a handsome young man. "Does what we said as kids still count, wife?"
