Zhong Lin is a middle school teacher who has always kept herself in line. By chance, she spends a night with a strange man.
In a panic, Zhong Lin runs away, but the man leaves her his phone number. When she asks what he wants, he says, "You have to take responsibility for me."
Zhong Lin visits a retired teacher, where she runs into Tan Zhishu again.
Among the crowd, Tan Zhishu smiles at her. "What a coincidence that we keep meeting."
Zhong Lin feels awkward. "This is more like a cursed connection."
The cold wind howls. Zhong Lin wraps her clothes tightly around herself. "I'm cold."
Tan Zhishu leans close to her ear. "I hear penguins like to huddle together for warmth."
Zhong Lin's face turns bright red. "Pah! In your dreams!"
Late at night, they have both been drinking.
Leaning against Tan Zhishu, Zhong Lin asks him, "Do you want to kiss me?"
Tan Zhishu feels as if a cat is scratching at his heart. His voice hoarse, he answers, "Yes."
This isn't a straightforward sugary romance. Both characters have selfish sides, and there are misunderstandings and heart-wrenching moments.
