One day, Wen Chun learns that he is living inside a book, and that he is one of its characters.
He comes from a good family, is handsome, and has everything anyone could want. But there's bad news: he's the cold-hearted villain's unrequited white moonlight.
The villain thinks he's gentle and kind and likes him, but that's only an illusion. In reality, Wen Chun is mean, disdainful of everyone, and accustomed to being above it all. When he learns that the villain likes him, he considers it an insult. So he begins to torment the villain, using ruthless, merciless methods, and eventually drives him to become evil.
Unexpectedly, the villain is actually the young master who went missing from a wealthy family. After his family takes him back and he establishes his position, he starts taking revenge on Wen Chun. Wen Chun goes bankrupt, loses everything, and becomes the villain's plaything.

The villain, Chu Jing, was framed and abandoned at an orphanage as a child. Life was hard, and he was surrounded by all kinds of malicious people. The only light in his life was Wen Chun.
In high school, his roommates cornered and bullied him. He was lying on the ground when a sudden downpour began. He was shivering from the cold, and just when he thought he would freeze to death, Wen Chun gave him a coat.
But the truth was that the fastidious young master Wen thought the coat was dirty and didn't want it anymore, so he casually tossed it aside. It happened to land on Chu Jing.
The coat got even dirtier, so Wen Chun wanted it even less. He said, "Take it to keep out of the rain."
Wen Chun turned and walked away. The incident left no impression on him, but he had no idea that his small gesture would warm Chu Jing's entire life.
Chu Jing had never received any kindness. That was the first time. He held Wen Chun's coat as if it were a priceless treasure.
His eyes couldn't help following Wen Chun. He'd never thought of disturbing him, not until they met again after college, when they were both working. He was still secretly in love, but his feelings were discovered, and the white moonlight in his heart revealed his ugly, filthy true nature.
So Wen Chun was just like all those other people. He was no good either.
Chu Jing felt that Wen Chun had killed the white moonlight in his heart. He was in so much pain that, once he gained power, the first thing he did was take revenge on Wen Chun. He couldn't be the only one to suffer.
Wen Chun, after quickly reading the whole story: "..."
So in a few years, will I become this loathsome character from the book? Will society's dye vat turn me into someone who mocks and despises other people's sincere feelings?
He refused to become that kind of person!
Fortunately, he'd woken up early. He hadn't yet mocked or trampled on Chu Jing's feelings. He thought that as long as he didn't insult the other man, Chu Jing would remain secretly in love with him, wouldn't hate him, and wouldn't come after him for revenge.
But Chu Jing worked at his company, right under his nose. The other man's gaze was too intense, and the things he did in private were so thoughtful, yet he never made a sound or disturbed Wen Chun.
Wen Chun was naturally the sort of person who returned kindness when he felt it. Besides, he had a special insight into the future and knew how pure Chu Jing was at this point, and how sincere his feelings were. How could he not be moved?
So, while keeping within the boundaries of friendship, he began to look after Chu Jing in many ways.

Nothing in Chu Jing's life belonged to him. Everything was filthy, except for that kind white moonlight. He was bright and beautiful, the only thing that kept Chu Jing going in this world.
He quietly tried not to disturb the other man, but the moon came toward him and shone down on him. So gentle and beautiful. Chu Jing suddenly felt that simply watching him wasn't enough. He wanted to possess him, to embrace the whole moon.
Keep the moon locked up?
No. Although he very much wanted to, Wen Chun wouldn't like that. He would use love to make sure Wen Chun never left.
