Synopsis:
Wu Jingze and Zhou Buhuan are a wealthy couple so embittered that they can't even be bothered to pretend to love each other.
On the day of their divorce, Zhou Buhuan takes off her ring, and feels the relief travel from her fingertip to her heart. Excited, she thinks that at last, with so little of her life left, she can enjoy herself a little.
Wu Jingze snatches the cigarette the woman has just lit and takes an indifferent drag. "Don't you have anything to say before you go?"
"You really want to hear it?" Zhou Buhuan smiles flippantly. "Well, I wish Mr. Wu's weddings get better and better, year after year, forever and ever."
After a few seconds, Wu Jingze says solemnly, "Then I wish you the blessings of the Eastern Sea and the longevity of the Southern Mountain." Zhou Buhuan is surprised by this rare display of kindness, but then he continues:
"Take good care of yourself, take your medicine on time, and try to live a little longer so you can give me wedding gifts a few more times."

One late night after their divorce, a dead-drunk Zhou Buhuan grabs Wu Jingze and babbles incoherently.
"Everyone else is giving it their all to bloom. I'm the only one waiting to wither. I know I'm going to die soon, but so what? I'll die with style, die in comfort, die happy, die without a care in the world. I'm not afraid... Wu Jingze, I'm not afraid. Not one bit..."
Halfway through her rambling, she demands, "Are you even listening?"
"No."
"Then what are you doing?"
Zhou Buhuan doesn't get Wu Jingze's answer before she falls asleep.
The man says softly, "Being afraid."
