Xu Lingpu grew up traveling all over the country with his father, who went from place to place buying farm produce, struggling to make ends meet. From elementary school through high school, he transferred schools 129 times. His only dream in life was for his father to suddenly tell him that his family had several hundred million waiting for him to inherit, and that all the hardships of his first eighteen years had just been for the sake of experiencing life.
His father said gloomily, "What a coincidence, son. That's my dream too. I'm also waiting for a call from your grandpa."
Then one day, the call from Grandpa finally came.
From then on, Xu Lingpu became a man whose family owned a mine.
Qiao Suying had been pampered and lived comfortably since childhood. When she was eighteen, her family's business went bankrupt. Her father became a deadbeat and ran off without a trace, leaving his wife and daughter with astronomical debts. She'd heard that the entertainment industry paid well, so she gave up her place at a prestigious university and instead took the entrance exam for a film academy. She became an oddity in the dazzling, gaudy entertainment world. After all, not every actress, when attacked by haters who say, "You're nothing but a pretty face," dares to retort with such confidence: "Even if you traded ten lifetimes' worth of intelligence, you couldn't get one lifetime with my kind of beauty."
As it turned out, fate's generous gifts to me were only so that, after reuniting with you, I'd have the confidence to say, "From now on, I'll take care of you.", Xu Lingpu.
New book seeking advance collection 1: "Two Orioles in a Tree"
Big news at Mingxiu High School, a private school for the elite!
A new transfer student has joined Class 8 of the second year!
As everyone knows, Mingxiu High School only admits two kinds of students: elite academic stars recruited from across the country with generous scholarships, and rich kids whose grades aren't good enough but who get in after rounds of interviews by paying a hefty "school-building fee."
But in the thirty years since the school was founded, there has never been a student who transferred to Mingxiu midway through the school year...
Never! Ever!
Who exactly is this mysterious transfer student? A super academic star? Or a super rich second-generation kid?
Unbelievable!
Absolutely outrageous!
Su Yue Zhao, the second-year representative of Mingxiu High School's academic underachievers: Who cares who it is? Let's go pick on them!
Yan Shanhuai, who was transferred to Mingxiu High School against his will: ???
Much later, Yan Shanhuai messaged his old classmates: I often feel out of place at this school because I'm not ridiculous enough.
From afar, there seem to be two orioles in the tree. Up close, one of them is an idiot.
A tsundere, domineering guy * a clever, beautiful girl
Advance collection 2: "When You Become the Second-From-Bottom Heir"
Everyone at Mingxiu High School knows that Gu Qingyan of Class 8, third year, doesn't like Qu Baiyan of Class 7, third year.
Because, supposedly, someone found an entire notebook filled with Gu Qingyan's handwriting:
I hope Qu Baiyan's family goes bankrupt right this instant!
This goes beyond merely disliking him. You could call it hatred.
Qu Baiyan acted like he didn't care, but in private, he threw the love letter and birthday present he'd planned to give Gu Qingyan into the trash.
Tossing and turning in bed, Qu Baiyan whispered bitterly, "Gu Qingyan, why on earth are you blind at such a young age?"
What no one could have imagined was that two years after high school graduation, the Qu family really did go bankrupt!
Gu Qingyan happily found Qu Baiyan, penniless and living on the streets. "I've liked you for a long time. Let's date!"
Qu Baiyan: ??? You have to be fucking kidding me.
Advance collection 3: "I Can't Solve This Problem"
A neglected ad was posted on the bulletin board at Mingxiu High School.
"Looking for a tutor who ranks in the top fifty in the second year. Any gender. Pay: ten yuan per problem explained."
A neatly printed phone number, written vertically and divided into detachable strips, hung below it. Not a single strip had ever been torn off.
Huo Lianxing happened to walk by, saw the words "pay" and "ten yuan," tore off a strip without hesitation, and called the number immediately.
Xia Shiqing happily arranged to meet her tutoring teacher in a study room.
The male voice on the phone was clear and bright, incredibly pleasant to hear.
Was it the class representative from Class 2? Or the physics genius from Class 5 who always got perfect scores?
All of Xia Shiqing's hopes crumbled when she saw Huo Lianxing sprawled lazily in a chair.
Huo Lianxing was famous at Mingxiu High School for skipping class and fighting. His grades ranked far, far, far, far, far, far below hers.
Xia Shiqing: I really want to say no, but I don't dare. /despair.jpg/
Huo Lianxing: Time to show my true skills.
A little while into the tutoring session.
Huo Lianxing: ...Wait a second. Let me look this problem up first...
