The Quagmire

[Powerful Man Falls in Love] [Poor Background x Born into Privilege] [Angsty Breakup and Reconciliation] [Single Couple] [Forced Possession] * Xu Ruo came to the capital from a poor region to attend college. With outstanding grades, she was admitted to Peking University's Chinese Literature Department. She was the top scorer on her province's college entrance exam and became an overnight sensation. But she never imagined she would suddenly reunite with Lu Qingze here, under these circumstances. * Lu Qingze was a big shot in their circle. In his spare time, he admired mountains and rivers and appraised paintings. Though young, he carried himself with an air of refined elegance. But everyone knew he had immense power and was not someone to cross. No one could understand why he was so fixated on Xu Ruo. “What do you see in her?” he mused. After a moment, he smiled. “Her poverty?” * When Xu Ruo was in high school, a young uncle from the neighboring family came to stay for a few days, saying he had something to take care of. Under the bright sunshine, she rode her bicycle and looked up. In the hazy daylight, she saw the handsome young man's smiling eyes. From then on, her life sank into a mire she could never escape.
