[Sorry, little angels. My writing plans conflict with the original outline. I could force myself to keep going, but the story would definitely veer off course later. After much hesitation, I don't want to settle, so I'm going to pause and sort out the outline.]
[I should rewrite it, though I don't know how long that will take. Please forgive my stubbornness, and accept my apologies, little angels.]
In his previous life, Jiang Xing was a supreme Celestial Master, only one step away from the Heavenly Realm. He had poured his heart and soul into his work and achieved great success. After transmigrating back, all he wanted was to lie low and live the life of a lazy salted fish, far from all the petty disputes.
But fate had other plans. His family thought he was lonely and vulnerable to being possessed by evil spirits, so they entrusted him to Xi Hailou, a rising star in the world of metaphysics.
Xi Hailou was softhearted toward the weak. After seeing Jiang Xing turn deathly pale and nearly faint in front of an evil spirit just once, he couldn't bring himself to force him into this treacherous world.
That night, Xi Hailou gently coaxed Jiang Xing to sleep. “It's all fake, made up to hurt people. Be good and don't be scared. I'm right here with you.”
.
Paranormal videos spread like wildfire, showing ghosts everywhere and horrors of every kind.
Streamer: “Holy sh*t, there's a ghost! There really is a ghost! Aaaaah!”
Xi Hailou snapped Jiang Xing's phone shut. “Fake nonsense. Superstition.”
An evil creature appeared in the street, laughing wildly as it began a killing spree.
Evil creature: “Damn you, Celestial Master! Prepare to die! ...Ah!”
Xi Hailou stepped in front of Jiang Xing and kicked it away. “...Where did this lunatic come from?”
A thousand-year-old evil spirit burst out of its coffin. The formation was on the verge of breaking, and everyone was in mortal danger.
His companion roared, “Xi Hailou! Where the hell did you go?”
With no time to explain, Xi Hailou hung every protective talisman he had on Jiang Xing and gave him a flood of instructions. “Be good. Don't move around. It's safe here. Wait right here for me. I'll be back soon. Whatever you do, don't go outside.”
But he couldn't keep the truth from Jiang Xing every time.
The thousand-year-old evil spirit was impossibly powerful. Xi Hailou and the others were no match for it and fell to the ground. At the critical moment, Jiang Xing stepped forward.
The man everyone had once dismissed as a pretty face revealed himself as a supreme Celestial Master. With the power of a single sword strike, he forced the evil spirit back into its coffin. His brilliance blazed forth in an instant, his imposing might dazzling everyone.
.
When Xi Hailou fell, he was covered in blood, his consciousness already fading.
He heard familiar footsteps beside him. Someone gently brushed the loose hair from his temple.
A cool, subtle presence drew close to his lips, carrying wisps of tea fragrance. The voice was so tender it seemed to melt. “Are you an idiot?”
With just one smile, Jiang Xing made Xi Hailou fall for him, never to recover.
A go-with-the-flow attitude, treating life like a play and accepting life and death with equanimity. A beautiful, strong, tragic bottom x a handsome top with an intense possessive and protective streak.
[My own take on metaphysics. The whole thing is made up.]
Coming soon: My Useless Big Brother Is the Infinite Game's Chief Executor
People often say the Shen family must have had an ancestor's grave blessed by good fortune. Every one of the second through fifth children is exceptionally talented: some are industry leaders, others are rising stars in show business. Not one of them is ordinary.
The only exception is the eldest, Shen Ji. At twenty-eight, he has accomplished nothing. His one great achievement came when a board member tried to quietly goad him into seizing power. After a long, hesitant pause, Shen Ji gently advised, “I think Second Brother would be better suited to that position than I am. You shouldn't oppose him, either.”
The board member was so furious he pointed at Shen Ji and called him a good-for-nothing who'd never amount to anything, then suffered a bout of high blood pressure and was rushed to the hospital.
Shen Ji lives entirely on the family's dividends. His younger siblings don't mind spending a little money to support a harmless ornament.
But they are ambitious and proud. As they hear the outside world constantly disparage Shen Ji, they gradually grow irritated by the fact that he is their biological big brother.
Until they are dragged into an infinite game. There, they see their unremarkable big brother transformed into the Chief Executor, standing alone above them and looking down with a cold gaze, as if they were mere ants.
In reality, Shen family's second son can't stand listening to Shen Ji's gentle advice and often uses his authority as the head of the family to make him shut up.
In the game, the Executor impatiently answers his questions in a cold voice: “Win and you live. Break the rules and you die. Lose and you die. Was I not clear enough?”
In reality, Shen family's thrill-seeking third son often flies into a rage when Shen Ji tries to stop him. In the game, the Executor points at a hideous, terrifying monster and mocks him. “You want to live, but you're too scared to fight. Do you expect me to do it for you?”
In reality, the fourth child can't stand how Shen Ji speaks to everyone so timidly and politely. In the game, the Executor has just one word for him: “Get lost.”
In reality, the fifth child gets annoyed when Shen Ji makes a fuss over even a minor scrape. In the game, the Executor says, “It's not like losing a limb or two will kill you.”
The younger siblings make it through the game in a sorry state and return to reality. When they open the door, they find their big brother sitting on the sofa reading. His glasses make him look refined and gentle as he smiles warmly at them. “You're back?”
The younger siblings: “...”
.
From the moment their parents died, Shen Ji secretly vowed that he would take good care of his younger siblings.
He was willing to be the supporting character and their unseen source of support, all so he could help them grow in confidence.
After more than ten peaceful years, though, his younger siblings suddenly develop an obsession with their big brother.
“Why are you being so harsh? Big Brother used to call me by my nickname, but today he actually used my full name!”
“Why did you act like you didn't know me when we passed each other on the street?”
“Why didn't you wait for us so we could eat together?”
The infinite game forbids them from revealing their identities to one another. After being brutally beaten by the Executor, the younger siblings have a thousand things they want to accuse him of, but in the end they can only glare at him through their tears. “Do you not love us anymore?!”
Shen Ji: “?”
