The mule startled and shook itself.

Sheng Yuqiu startled too. She reached out to stroke its coat. "Do they really use a donkey to fetch brides in Wan Ning Village?"

"It's a mule, the village chief's pride and joy. If it weren't for this fellow, I'm afraid you'd have had to ride a pig."
