The Dashing Duke Meets His Waterloo

Blurb: At the command of Lady Shockley, her maid Tania is tasked with arranging a night of passion between her mistress and the much-admired Duke Valentine. When threats fail, Tania has no choice but to use every trick at her disposal to seduce him... From disdain and disgust to jealousy and surrender, the self-proclaimed ladies' man of a duke confesses his love like a boy experiencing his first crush, only to discover that it was all a scheme to make him the laughingstock of the entire city... and that she isn't even the damned maid she claimed to be. So Valentine decides to give her a taste of her own medicine... In short: A rakish duke reforms, with a pure-hearted heroine who knows how to scheme. Deep into the night, the guests were all fast asleep. Tania shielded the weak candle flame and carefully knocked on Duke Valentine's door. The door opened a crack, and a low voice whispered, “Put out the candle. Someone might see you.” Tania understood and blew it out. A large hand quickly settled on her shoulder, and a shadow slipped through the crack in the door. The person behind her smelled a little different from the duke usually did, perhaps because His Grace had had a tiring day. In the darkness, she felt her way forward with practiced ease, leading him toward the large bed. Then, in a sudden move, she slipped behind it. The tall shadow pitched onto the soft mattress, where Lady Shockley was waiting amid a bed of passion. Inspired by *The Trick of Fate* by Agnolo Firenzuola. It was a chaotic, decadent age. Beneath the elegant surface lay adultery, slander, and betrayal... Theme: Staying true to yourself amid all the glitter
