At twenty, Ye Shu sets out to travel and study, carrying a royal letter of introduction, going eight thousand li away, with only the clouds and moon for company... and a little donkey too.
Along the way, she picks up a beautiful, delicate man with an unwavering sense of righteousness, and the smooth eight-thousand-li journey turns into a perilous one.
Later, Ye Shu discovers that the man is so delicate because he is carrying a child.
Later still, Ye Shu finds herself a father...
