Zhou Mingyang has been able to see monsters ever since he was a child, which has brought him no end of bad luck. Not only was he nearly sucked into a vending machine, but he’s also constantly possessed by all sorts of strange things.
He’s socially anxious and face-blind, and has trouble telling people apart from monsters. When he first met Shen Kong, for example, he mistook him for a monster and nearly scarred his face.
But Shen Kong didn’t get angry. Instead, he carried Zhou Mingyang, who had suffered a concussion after being hit, to the ambulance.
Again and again, Shen Kong pulled him out of deep trouble, keeping the relentless malice around them at bay.
This man, with a giant beast at his side and a long blade in hand, appeared before him with cool indifference. The wildfire in Zhou Mingyang’s chest, the one that had threatened to consume the world, went out.
He craved that little bit of tenderness and longed for that little bit of peace. Merely looking at Shen Kong was no longer enough. He wanted to keep Shen Kong in this world forever.

This is actually a novel I started writing in high school but never finished. I still have the draft. Back then, I was obsessed with anime, and a lot of it shows through in the story. It felt like a shame to let it disappear, so I dug it out and expanded it into a full-length novel.
A few things to note:
1. The setting is entirely modern and fictional. The protagonist can see monsters, which is a pretty old-fashioned premise...
2. Monster hierarchy: flying spirits, monsters, deities. Obstacles are not monsters.
3. Regulators: administrators who oversee monsters in the human world. There is only one per era. Most are monsters, though occasionally one is human.
4. This is all made up. I will not be swayed from my happy ending.
5. New writer at work, mind the fire.

Sorry, I actually finished reading it a long time ago but didn't comment until today... It actually only took two days (?) To finish reading it I feel that Meow Meow is getting better and better the more I write it, the action, psychology, scenes, etc. Are all great! The growth of the two children is also written very delicately! Working hand in hand or something is great! /Actually, I think Zhou Mingye and Shen Qiye are CPs... I don't know if it's right to drink... The setting of monsters is very interesting!
