Main characters: Long Wanwu X Feng Qianjiu (King of Gambling x Thousand-Sect Master)
Blurb:
The Dragon-Phoenix Sect spans only one generation, with only one pair of its kind.
The dragon and phoenix soar over the vast sea, roaming through gambling games across the ages.
The phoenix and dragon fly through the highest heavens, ruling the arcane sects across countless generations.
The dragon is Long Wanwu, the Azure King of the gambling world.
The phoenix is Feng Qianjiu, the Thousand-Sect Master of the Thousand Sects.
Dragon and phoenix, perfectly paired, bringing prosperity for ages to come.
(It's not all that serious, actually. It's pretty fun and silly~)
Since the story includes a lot of jargon about the various underworld arts, here's a rough list to help make sense of it:
The Five Gambling Kings: The Azure King Qinglong of the East, the Vermilion King Zhuque of the South, the White King Baihu of the West, the Dark King Xuanwu of the North, and the Yellow King Yinglong (Yellow Dragon) of the Center.
[This is an original setting. The protagonist Long Wanwu is Qinglong, the Azure King of the East and leader of the Five Kings.]
The Thousand Sect's Upper Eight: Upright, Advance, Reverse, Escape, Wind, Fire, Swift, and Rumor.
The Thousand Sect's Lower Eight: Collide, Flow, Heaven, Offer, Plant, Horse, Conceal, and Kun.
[The eight major sect members are grouped among the Eight. The protagonist Feng Qianjiu is the 99th Grandmaster of the Thousand Sect.]
The Jianghu's Outer Eight Trades: the Thousand Sect, the Thieves' Sect, the Assassins' Sect, the Orchid Sect, the Spirit-Tuning Sect, the Gu Sect, the Red Sect, and the Mechanism Sect.
The Jianghu's Eight Great Trades: Books, Fire, Drift, Wind, Shock, Nobility, Fatigue, and Necessity.
[Note: The Outer Eight Trades are organized groups in the underworld; the Eight Great Trades are eight ways people fallen on hard times make a living. Keep the distinction in mind as you read!]
