I Just Want to Build a City in Peace

Readers who care about historical accuracy, please spare me.

Qingshu was obsessed with little city-building games from Kairosoft. He never expected to suddenly die overnight and find himself in the Heian period, bringing a city-building game along with him.

How is he supposed to build a city in the Heian period? This is hopeless.

Luckily, he's a laid-back player, and his life is just as carefree. No matter how much his little Kairosoft System flashes before his eyes, it won't stop him from growing up at his own leisurely pace.

But come on! Eating only two meals a day, with no meat, is no way to live! He wants to live like the mountain folk, making the most of the land and enjoying meat every day.

Fortunately, his late mother came through for him. She asked his grandfather to give him, her son, the house and land that were rightfully his.

With a house, land, and silver in hand, Qingshu left Heian-kyo for a seaside villa. He decided to build a little city of his own, so he could enjoy meat out in the open. Things just didn't seem to develop the way he'd imagined...

He opened an izakaya. What? He didn't know how to brew sake? Fine, he'd do it himself.

He opened an oden shop. What? He didn't know how to cook? Fine, he'd do it himself.

He opened... Damn it, System, I have to do everything myself! What use are you?

System: I'm here to help you build a city :)

Let me recommend my friend Tutu's story, Tsunayoshi Can See Ghosts, by Wuren Huan.

Tsunayoshi was separated from his family as a child and grew up under the care of a host of yokai shikigami, becoming a rather half-baked onmyoji.

But one day, a mysterious baby dressed in black stopped him and told him that he was actually the sole heir to one of the underworld's leading families...

Having spent his whole life interacting only with shikigami, he now began his long journey through the human world.

During the painful days when he was forced to go to school, he met:

A classmate carrying a notebook called the Book of Friends,

A member of the basketball team who was human but less noticeable than the Amanojaku family,

A terrifying human who, when playing tennis, seemed even more like he was delivering divine punishment than Arak,

And a group of natural disasters of his very own... I mean, Guardians.
