Tenderness Lost

Complete.

Word has it that Old Master Fu is bedridden, muttering every day about how he hopes his eldest grandson will marry and have children.

So the question of which society beauty Fu Chengxian would marry became a hot topic over tea in Nancheng.

As it turned out, Fu Chengxian married a young woman no one had ever heard of.

Fu Chengxian was as indifferent as could be toward the wife his elders had chosen for him. He neither cared for her nor spoiled her, and he never shared a bed with her.

Whenever possible, he avoided seeing her.

Their marriage was all form and no substance.

But his wife never complained. At home, she was gentle and domestic; when she went out, she was neither servile nor overbearing.

On Valentine's Day, while the whole city was caught up in romance, Fu Chengxian, unusually, bought a bouquet and came home early.

Through a crack in the bedroom door, he saw his gentle, domestic wife sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed, drinking ice-cold beer and talking on the phone.

"Heh. He's just a heartless work machine. As soon as I get what I need done, I'll divorce him!"

Fu Chengxian: "...Huh?"

"Later, each of them would let down their guard in love."
