One morning, while taking his school's monthly exam, Fang Yuanjue, a high school student, accidentally wandered into the examination hall for the Netherworld City God selection. He came top of his class and became a City God. Under the guidance of his agent, Jin Ruoyue, he began his career as a "civil servant," going to school by day and working at night. However, the mess left behind by the previous City God, the delicate relationships among several local demon clans, and the frequent accidents kept dragging him into the maelstrom.
Meanwhile, Fang Yuanjue's classmate Chen Qiyuan was born into a prominent Daoist family, but family conflicts had left him unwilling to accept its inheritance. After his friends kept running into trouble, he began investigating, only to discover that the source of every accident lay within his own family!
As the boys meet in the darkness and search for the truth, a massive conspiracy slowly comes to light... Chen Qiyuan x Fang Yuanjue. The story is split roughly equally between their perspectives. A very long, slow-burn novel focused on plot.
P.S. This story is set in a fictional world. All organizations and institutions mentioned are unrelated to the real world.
