[Worldbuilding] I, a Human Duke, Was Carried Off by a Dragon to Be His Bride

Garcia was a duke, diligent in his duties and devoted to his people like a father. The emperor held him in high regard.

But when he woke one morning, the adorable maid standing by his bed had been replaced by a handsome snake-man with a human head and serpent's body, dressed in a maid's uniform.

The other man wore revealing clothes and swished his tail. “Dear Duke, it's time to take your medicine.”

Fleeing the castle in terror, Garcia discovered that he had become an oddity.

His servant had a pair of donkey ears on his head, his priest had a goat's head, his subordinate was a centaur... and he was the only human on the entire continent.

Garcia: This is a huge problem!

After arriving in another world, Garcia still wanted to be a diligent duke, devoted to his people like a father, and beloved by the emperor.

Though the irrigation, agriculture, and infrastructure here were all woefully underdeveloped, and the people looked stranger than he could have imagined, their work ethic and ability to get things done convinced Garcia he could lead an infrastructure revolution.

This time, he really did become a human duke beloved by the emperor.

Only, his emperor was a dragon. And dragons loved collecting rare treasures.

As the only human, he caught the dragon's eye.

Dragon: Will three mountains of gold be enough for your bride price?

Garcia, who only wanted to develop his domain and care for his people, shakily held out a finger. “You'll have to offer more.”
