You Really Get to Me

Lu Siran saw Yan Xing again at the home of a family friend.

Twenty years ago, a car accident left three-year-old Yan Xing missing.

After his precious granddaughter was found, Old Master Yan held a special banquet.

A few familiar playboy heirs from Beijing's social scene gathered in a corner to gossip.

"I heard Yan Xing is sweet and well-behaved, with a soft personality."

"Didn't they also say she grew up away from home and is frail, always getting sick?"

"Ran, my mom said your aunt once wanted to arrange a marriage between you two. Now that Yan Xing is back, could the families just go ahead with it?"

Lu Siran lounged lazily against the sofa, head lowered as he toyed with the lighter in his hand. Without looking up, he replied with little interest, "I can only see her as a little sister. Marry her? I'm not an animal."

A moment later, Yan Xing came downstairs in a light-colored evening dress. Her voice was soft and sweet, as if mixed with sugar. "Hello, everyone. I'm Yan Xing."

Lu Siran, who had been so nonchalant, suddenly sat up straight. Yan Xing seemed to sense it and looked over. Lu Siran licked his lips, his burning gaze fixed on her, restrained and controlled, yet scorching like a blaze.

A friend nudged Lu Siran's arm teasingly. "Ran, do you remember what you just said?"

After Yan Xing disappeared into the crowd, Lu Siran shot his friend a cool look, then turned to watch her retreating figure and chuckled. "Yeah, I'm an animal."

For her, I could be worse than an animal.
