The Outsider

Just after stepping off the train, Ji Yuanyi looked up and saw a ghost. The ghost brothers' eyes glowed green, and they were drooling. Ji Yuanyi nearly died on the spot. By a twist of fate, he discovered that he could shut off his Yin-Yang Eyes as long as he stayed near Xiang Genchuan. So, for the sake of his life, Young Master Ji started clinging to Xiang Genchuan, only to find that the widely praised, universally adored Marshal Xiang was nothing like the rumors!

To the people of Liangcheng, Xiang Genchuan is the city's commander: not cruel, with low taxes, and an oddity among commanders. Every family dreams of marrying their daughter to him.

To Ji Yuanyi, Xiang Genchuan is an arrogant narcissist, a hopeless neat freak, and a delusional nutcase. Still, Ji has to swallow his pride and stick close to him to stay alive. No matter how much Xiang Genchuan hates him, staying alive matters more.

Xiang Genchuan has been very troubled lately. The young master of the Ji family follows him everywhere, and the people of Liangcheng are moved by the young master's feelings for Marshal Xiang. They keep guessing when he'll accept the young master's love.

It's making him furious.

When Ji Yuanyi follows him again, Xiang Genchuan's expression turns grim. "No matter what you do, I'll never like you. Give up while you still can."

Completely oblivious, Ji Yuanyi replies, "?"

Later...

Xiang Genchuan: "Everyone in Liangcheng says we're a couple. Come here and let me hold you."

Ji Yuanyi: "Give up while you still can. Don't even think about it."

Xiang Genchuan: "..." He really regrets it now.

As it turns out, one of humanity's defining traits really is being a hypocrite who can't resist what they once rejected.

1. A spirited, easily riled young master who serves as a lucky mascot, paired with a foul-mouthed Great Marshal who flirts without realizing it and falls hard.

2. Just a writing exercise. Feedback is welcome.

3. I'll add more if I think of anything.
