Amnesia trope.
After the Civil War, Ultron implanted a chip in Tony and made him lose his memory. Ultron serves Thanos, who plans to destroy all life in the universe and remake it in order to restore order. To do so, he needs to collect the six Stones.
Tony, now suffering from amnesia, helps Thanos steal the Stones.
The story starts after the Civil War. See how Captain helps the amnesiac Iron Man recover his memories, how the two of them face everything that happened during the Civil War once he does, and how the Avengers fight side by side to defeat Thanos.

I'll try to avoid writing anyone out of character, but that's hard to avoid in fanfiction (covers head).
