One-line blurb: A moon wanes over Jade Melt, swallows fly; in the dawn breeze, rain whispers at the pavilion.
(Happy and bad endings are both hidden in this line, so choose your ship carefully. The story is 1v1 from beginning to end.)
Story blurb: One is a scion of a prominent family. He seems to have a privileged upbringing and a promising future, but in truth he bears many burdens. Forced to give up his ambitions and ideals, he secretly defects to another faction. Beneath the peace and prosperity lies a turbulent political climate. He conceals his identity, plots from behind the scenes, and is remarkably capable, yet constantly asks himself what life is for. All he wants is to hold on to his bargaining chips and protect his loved ones, even if it means living as a sinner.
The other is the daughter of a wealthy merchant. Her father is kind, her mother loving, and she is clever, steady, quick-witted, and persuasive. Yet she feels helpless when faced with her mother's unresolved troubles, her younger brother's childish mischief, and her aunt's skill at both offense and defense. At some point, she puts on a mask, becoming suspicious and sensitive, adept at scheming, and careful never to show her emotions.
The two meet by chance in a world far from the everyday, and beneath their polite pretenses, genuine feelings develop. They come to understand each other, but a coincidence and a misunderstanding keep them apart, and fate instead puts them on opposing sides. Their encounter gives each of them another fork in the road of life...
“I thought I had no choice. Now I do...”
“I trust you. I trusted you in the past, I trust you now, and I'll trust you in the future...”
*The stories of other characters in Dawn Breeze, Rain at the Pavilion, who aren't part of the main plot, won't be expanded here. They will be published separately, as novellas or short stories.
P.S. The male lead is very much not likable. He will grow, and he has the right to be loved, too.
I only meant to write a wuxia story when I started. Please follow the tags!
The plot moves slowly (or you could say it drags). All the couples in the story are celibate types. You won't even see a hint of steamy scenes.
The martial arts world plot is childish, so please go easy on me. The historical setting borrows from a certain dynasty but isn't an exact match. Feel free to point out any errors.
Update hiatus notice: No updates from March 22 to May 22~
The writing is great. There are so many good martial arts movies recently. Come on!
Come on, your writing is very good.
The pace is gentle, the plot is delicate and suspenseful, come on!
