Ghost Stories

According to the Cihai Dictionary: "The Ghost Gate Pass, an ancient pass with two opposing peaks shaped like a gate. Passing through it is like entering the realm of the dead."

According to the Classic of Mountains and Seas: "In the midst of the sea lies Mount Dushuo. There is a great peach tree on the mountain. Its northeastern branch is called the Ghost Gate. Two divine beings dwell there: one is called Shentu, and the other Yulei."

In myth and legend, the Ghost Gate Pass is a checkpoint in the underworld. There are the Ten Courts of Yama, a Bridge of Helplessness over the River of Forgetfulness, and Granny Meng's soup, which makes you forget your past life.

But few people know that the Ghost Gate Pass isn't actually a pass. It's a gate, and its gatekeeper is immortal, yet their story has an end...

Zhuang Yuan, a woman who can hear ghosts speak.

Liang Shuqian, once a doctor with a brilliant future, and still one.

During a team-building outing, Zhuang Yuan fell off a cliff and was rushed to the emergency room. After that, her life changed in two important ways.

First, she reunited with Liang Shuqian, who had secretly loved her for years.

Second, she gained the ability to hear ghosts speak.

At first, Zhuang Yuan resisted both changes with all her might.

Because of Zhuang Yuan, Liang Shuqian's life changed, too.

She went from being a good doctor who saw patients and performed surgeries for a salary to a detective, a fighter, and a driver.

Liang Shuqian herself took all of this remarkably well.

Zhuang Yuan said, "Liang Shuqian, there's no way back for me."

Liang Shuqian smiled and replied, "Then keep going forward. Don't look back."

The two of them traveled together, encountering one strange adventure after another, until Zhuang Yuan uncovered the secrets of her own connection to the Ghost Gate...
