Story summary: While traveling in Africa, the heroine meets six people and strikes up a friendship with them. On their return trip, they are seized by terrorists. Their plane deviates from its planned route and enters the "death route," then makes an emergency landing in the "desert of death." They trek out of the barren desert, spend the night in an abandoned village, are imprisoned at a military base, escape from a terrifying town, cross a winding mountain pass, and are forced into a devil's prison. The seven of them never give up searching for rescue. As they flee attacks and war, they face air raids, gunfights, street battles, and car chases. In the end, three survive, but because of a single coin, only one is rescued.
