"He's my husband, my person." Chen Su said firmly, then turned and walked away.
On the way to the hospital, her body couldn't warm up.
She sent everyone away. Only Bai Zhen and she were left in the room.
Bai Zhen sat quietly by the bed.
"Bai Zhen."
"Bai Zhen."
"Bai Zhen!" Her voice was hoarse.
"Mm, I'm here." At last, his voice came, rough and hoarse.
He got up and turned to look at her.
She was the one who suddenly didn't know what to do.
There was a small wound on his face, and his left hand was the only part of him that was bandaged.
He looked haggard, but those eyes were still his.
She pinched her arm. "Are you going to collapse?"
Her words were cold, but inside she was tense.
She was afraid. Terrified.
"Su."
"What is it?"
"Do you want me to leave?"
"No," she blurted out.
"Then I won't leave you, okay?"
She froze for a moment, then answered, "Do you mean it?" Her voice was faint.
"As long as you don't ask me to leave, I'll stay by your side. No matter what happens, until you don't need me anymore."
Chen Su rushed over and yanked his neck down hard.
"You'd better keep your word." She stared intently at him.
"Mm." He nodded. His small eyes were filled with her.
