Everyone says the Xie family's daughter is so lucky. She became empress twice and was even a princess of the reigning dynasty.

But as far as Xie Changqing is concerned, she never wanted either of those two "empress" positions.

One man treated her as a replacement for his mother, while the other was someone she had raised to the throne.

But so what if she became empress or princess? Only real power in her own hands could protect everything she had! What Xie Changqing wanted was to speak up for the women of the world, not stand by as an appendage to a man.

Song Jingyuan always thought that he and Changqing were probably fated to miss each other.

While his mother was still alive, she intended to arrange a marriage between him and Changqing of the Xie family, but his father never agreed.

After his mother passed away and the year of mourning ended, his father sent him to the Xie family to deliver an edict.

He thought the edict would announce his marriage to Changqing of the Xie family. But to his surprise, it was an order for Changqing to enter the palace and become empress!

After that, his father died of illness and the Xie family seized power. He was no longer the Crown Prince of Great Qin, and Changqing was no longer his father's empress.

Later, he reclaimed the throne and, as promised, gave Changqing half of the empire. But staying together with her for life proved far too difficult.
