The CP That Always Has a Bad Ending

Also known as: (1) How many romances does Hua Lan intend to have? (2) How to shower a tragic ending's script with sugar? (3) Did someone stop the CP from getting frisky in front of the fans again today? There are plenty of CPs in the entertainment industry, all intended to attract fans and show off their romance. But from the day tragic-ending CPs are born, they're destined to torment their fans. Sweet moments are out of the question, but there are plenty of knives to go around. Hua Lan, a guarantee of high TV ratings, and Xi Zheng, a goddess of the big screen, have starred in several dramas together. Without exception, every one of them ended in tragedy. Their CP fans couldn't understand it. These two beauties were clearly meant to fall in love and be together. Was there something wrong with the screenwriters?

When Hua Lan heard her name announced for the Most Popular CP Award, she was momentarily dazed. She instinctively glanced at Xi Zheng, seated beside her. "The two of us?" Xi Zheng, whose face was usually expressionless, looked confused too. She nodded slightly. "Yes." The reason was simple: in this drama, they weren't a CP.

Xi, a Best Actress who rose to fame at a young age, was as cold as ice and universally known as an unattainable beauty. Yet one day, she sat on Hua Lan's lap and pointed at her communicator. "I'll keep you. Is this enough?" Then, with a hint of worry, she added, "The money is clean."

Hua Lan's ever-smiling expression vanished, a rare sight. She leaned close to Xi's neck, her eyes reddening, and murmured, "Not enough. I'll make up the difference for you."
