Blurb

At her engagement banquet, Ji Xingqiao is publicly dumped by Shen Xinbai. He slips the ring onto his unrequited love's finger, confirming the rumors that the Ji family had forced him into the engagement.

Three years later, Ji Xingqiao quietly returns to China, and her mentor introduces her to the industry big shot Shen Shulin.

She sneaks glances at her idol, her heart so nervous it feels ready to leap out of her chest. Even her greeting comes out a little stilted, but he merely gives her a cool, bone-chilling "Hmm" with his peach-blossom eyes.

Three days later, they meet again in a recording studio. Ji Xingqiao is biting her own arm while trying to create a kissing sound effect.

"Want a hand?"

She looks up, embarrassed. "This is a little... Mm..."

Shen Shulin holds the back of her head, their lips meet, and he helps her all the way.

On the second day of Ji Xingqiao's job as Shen Shulin's assistant, she runs into the investor Shen Xinbai at the studio. He looks excited as he blocks her in the hallway. "Xingqiao, it's been a long time."

Before Ji Xingqiao can even process what is happening, a strong arm wraps around her waist. She turns and sees the cool, aloof senior Shen Shulin raising an eyebrow. "Uncle, let me introduce you. This is my... girlfriend."

Ji Xingqiao, completely baffled: ??? So they're all members of the Shen family!

The starflower's meaning is an unchanging heart.

Long ago, Shen Shulin had already met Ji Xingqiao. On the newly opened Line 8 subway, she had held star-shaped candy and talked to him. Shen Shulin suffered from social anxiety and thought he had encountered a bewitching spirit, but a year later, that spirit appeared at his uncle's engagement banquet.

He watched her being abandoned, then crushed the starflowers in his hands.
