In 2069, the average human lifespan has reached 110 years.

As technology advances, highly realistic robots are being mass-produced. They have the most sophisticated neural systems, capable of perfecting every detail. They are machines. Though their appearance is indistinguishable from that of humans, they have no beating hearts and no living souls, only commands and code etched deep into their systems. They have no flesh and blood, only hard, cold metal frames.

I am the new K-307 combat robot, assigned to follow Mr. Harriet at the command of Ms. Alma. It has nothing to do with my will or preferences. It is simply an order.

But something is changing. Something is changing without a sound.

The story is set in the future, in 2069. Though it's called the future, it's actually an alternate world. All place and company names are made up. National borders are unclear, so people of any skin color may come from the same or different places. The world is generally peaceful, so this has little to do with an interstellar federation or anything like that.
