The God of the Undead, A'na, challenged his nemesis, the God of Light. But after disrupting order in the divine realm, he was stopped by the Celestial Emperor. Defeated, he lowered his own divinity to escape, broke through the barriers between worlds, and fled to another realm. The Celestial Emperor ordered the God of Light to pursue him. But because A'na had lowered his divinity, he could not control the undead energy leaking from him. As a result, the world where he landed, Earth, was plunged into an apocalyptic crisis, and most people were affected by the undead energy and turned into flesh-eating zombies...
The God of Light tracked him to Earth, only to discover that Earth's world will had already been damaged. Because of various circumstances, he was unable to capture A'na himself, so he chose someone on Earth and elevated him to godhood to fight A'na in his place.
