I Am the God of Wealth. Pay Up

The gods kept either falling in love and swearing to love each other until death, or fighting like idiots and ending up sealed away.

The Hall of Glory was empty.

Written as "Twilight of the Gods," read as "Urgently Hiring Reliable Office Slaves for 24/7 Shifts."

The World Tree dragged me off and made me sign a predatory contract. I was saddled with the KPI of expanding the faithful and restoring the glory of the gods.

As compensation, the World Tree graciously let me choose my own divine domain.

Me: "I heard the God of Love just has to lie around falling in love, then wait for the followers to do the work."

World Tree: "Office romances are strictly forbidden while you're on the job! You're lusting after someone's body! You're shameless!"

Me: "Then I could be the God of Wisdom, too. They say knowledge is power."

World Tree: "...Do you still want to be the God of Love?"

In the end, I became the only god left in the world, with dominion over all the wealth under heaven.

Yes, the God of Wealth with just one coin in my pocket. The kind who'll drop dead if I have no savings or no followers.

I used that coin to buy a knight prisoner who was about to be executed.

He was my first follower.

And the first step toward restoring the glory of the gods.
