The Wall

Distance, all because of a wall

I'm on this side of the wall, and you're on the other.

Autumn winds rustle on my side, while snow blankets yours.

I weep softly on this side, while you sigh alone on the other.

We're separated by just one wall, standing so close;

We stand so close, yet there's always a wall between us.

At the very end,

I left my side of the wall, and you left yours.

We headed in opposite directions, growing farther apart with every step.

Along the long road of life,

I was just passing through your life, and you through mine.

We were merely two intersecting lines.

Once past the point where we crossed, we drifted farther and farther apart.
