A Magical Night at the Palace Museum

There’s a new novel coming soon in my author column~

Want to check out my upcoming books, My Rival and Even a Sharp-Tongued Top Needs to Fall in Love?

Here’s this novel’s blurb:

A big jerk told her that the Forbidden City was especially fascinating at night. She went there, only to find the artifacts inside fighting each other. The situation spiraled out of control.

The big jerk: “How about becoming the Forbidden City’s night-shift curator?”

The Forbidden City belongs to the tourists during the day. But once the gates are locked in the afternoon, another world exists behind them. There are lively, animated artifacts, palace lanterns imbued with resentment, and former emperors sitting together chatting.

One day:

The Empress Dowager’s gold filigree phoenix hairpin complained miserably, “Curator! Huangfu Tieniu is bullying me!”

The hapless curator: “Who?”

“That cloisonne vase over there. Its name is Huangfu Tieniu.”

The hapless curator: “Then what’s your name?”

“Me? My name is Ouyang Dazhi.”

Oh, sorry to bother you.

An after-dark Forbidden City world reminiscent of Night at the Museum, with meticulous historical research and a style that’s sometimes playful, sometimes heartwarming.

Theme: All things have spirits. Love life for what it is, together with the national treasures.
