Bai Qianye, the White Lotus

In the Buddhist Pure Land, Emperor Xiu, a wicked man in ten lifetimes, wished to enter the Buddhist sect. But the Buddha told him, "You must undergo trials in the mortal world, rid yourself of your demonic nature, and accumulate good karma before you can cultivate the roots of Buddhahood."

The mischievous thousand-petaled Buddha lotus, Bai Qianye, attached herself to a golden lotus seed and followed him through reincarnation, bringing about one extraordinary romance after another.

The Demon Emperor tried to turn these lovers in seven lifetimes into enemies, to accumulate seven lifetimes of resentment and summon countless evil spirits, reopening the gates to the demon realm and unifying the Three Realms.

Emperor Xiu: "Across seven lives and seven lifetimes, I would turn from Buddha to demon for you. I would rather betray the Buddha than betray you!"

Bai Qianye: "Across seven lives and seven lifetimes, I'll stay by your side. We'll never be apart."
