The Duan family has twin sons. The elder brother, Duan Wu, has been cool and reserved since childhood, the kind of perfect child everyone else's parents talk about. His younger brother, Duan Xun, is physically frail but cheerful, like a little sun who makes everyone feel warm and at ease.
At sixteen, Duan Wu gathered his courage and confessed all his love to Pei Che, only to receive a silent rejection.
"I know. You like Xiao Xun, don't you?"
Of course. Duan Xun was so wonderful that everyone liked him. Pei Che was no exception.
His failed love, his classmates' mockery, and his family's indifference
turned him into a smiling depressive.
The Duan couple sent him abroad for treatment.
Duan Wu returned at twenty-six.
He was himself, and yet not himself.
He had become more worldly and sophisticated, no longer cool and reserved. In its place was the image of a gentle, refined gentleman he always presented to the world.
"Hello, Pei Che."
(It's an emotional blurb, little darlings, please bear with me.)
Cool on the outside, warm and domineering (devoted) gong
