Wicked Fate, Defying Fate

He was a child who should never have been born, for his father was a prince, but he was illegitimate.

Many people used the power at their disposal to have him killed before he could grow up. Others risked their lives to protect him, simply because he might be the kingdom's rightful heir.

When he was powerless to choose for himself, his master set him on a path from which he would spend his whole life hiding in the shadows.

This was all because they were born with the fate of “three gifts, three curses”: they were noble by birth but never got to enjoy it, their first gift and first curse; they possessed unrivaled strategic brilliance but could never put it to use, their second gift and second curse; and they experienced the greatest love in the world but could never keep it forever, their third gift and third curse.

One was born with a story already written into his fate. Another was destined to become a hero.

He had thought about changing his fate, but reality left him numb. In the end, reality defeated him, and he grew even more ruthless. If he wanted something, he took it, without caring whether it was right. He became an assassin in a wheelchair, a man who would kill anyone for money, yet could still manipulate his own clients as if they were puppets.

What he got in return was a vast conspiracy,

one powerful enough to destroy an empire.
