Synopsis
Everyone in Quecheng says that once this winter is over, the Baili merchant family will have another female head who can't find a husband.
But before winter even arrives, Baili Ning receives an imperial decree betrothing her to Li Jingxuan, the supposedly foolish and stingy Crown Prince. In a daze, she becomes his future Crown Princess, set to enter the Eastern Palace the following Mid-Autumn Festival.
Furious, Baili Ning runs away from home. On her journey north, she meets her lifelong nemesis, Zhao Hong. Later, she decides that growing old with Zhao Hong might be just barely acceptable. It's still better than marrying a powerful stranger she's never even met, whose disposition she knows nothing about.
She never expects that Zhao Hong is the very man she has already been promised to.
Calling Li Jingxuan foolish and stingy is unfair.
He's simply been ground down by reality into a disillusioned wastrel who wants nothing more than to stay home and live out his days.
Li Jingxuan is a Crown Prince destined to be deposed. Spoiled since childhood, he has never made much of a mark. After several attempts to fight back, he gives up and decides to lie flat for good.
Later, when the Baili family falls into ruin overnight, she discovers that even a husband with no ambitions can hold up the heavens and earth.
The Crown Prince seems like a wastrel, but is actually perceptive and clear-sighted.
Two people trapped in the mire save each other, and fight to save themselves against all odds.
The Eastern Palace is a place that devours people. Those inside want to get out, and those outside want to get in.
Born to serve as a counterweight in court, the Crown Prince is a pawn about to lose his usefulness. Father and son detest each other, and the brothers are fated to turn against one another.
By the light of a lone lamp, his passionate heart never grows cold. He cuts through every obstacle.
One day, he resolves to rule the world and unite the four realms.
[Though he plays at power, his heart remains pure.]

[Looks like a wastrel, but is actually a sharp-minded, dark-hearted wolf pup x career-focused, nurturing, rising powerhouse]

My new mystery story, Slay the Gods, is coming soon. Come check it out~
The Divine Lord Hengxu is reborn as a mortal.
A thousand years after the gods fell.
The world has turned upside down, and the seas have changed beyond recognition.
Once the ruler of the Nine Heavens, who wielded power over the Six Realms and brought the demon clan to ruin in an instant, she is now a senior consultant for the Special Investigations Division of the Lingcheng police force.
Though she has not an ounce of magical power, her vision and knowledge are far beyond those of ordinary people.
From rat demons stealing grain to evil spirits devouring people, she handles them all with ease, identifying humans, ghosts, demons, and monsters at a glance.
Every creature of the Six Realms, whether famous or obscure, is exposed before her.
With eyes that see through everything, she cracks one major case after another.
She's doing well for herself, more or less living like a normal person.
But she has one bad habit: she likes livestreaming fortune-telling. It's not that she needs the money. As her coworkers put it, she's a workaholic who can't sit still and keeps pushing herself.
*
Qiantang, the weakest of flower demons.
The least noticeable of the Divine Lord of the Nine Heavens' many admirers.
A thousand years of hardship have not extinguished her resolve.
Once a demon spy who dedicated herself to overturning the world, she did not hesitate to destroy her own body and enter the cycle of reincarnation, finally finding a trace of her "former master."
She actually wants to live as a mortal.
But who is the Divine Lord Hengxu now, up in the Nine Heavens?
What was the point of lying low all these years? Her fate is clearly one of bloodshed and turmoil. How can she just lie flat?
*
How could a mere mortal dare to slay a god?
In the end, even when the gods wish for peace, the wind will not cease. As a deity, she still cannot have things her way.
*
Why is this resurrection rather than reincarnation?
In the usual reincarnation setup, the character is undergoing a trial, and once it ends, they return to their original body. But that won't happen to the heroine. She simply becomes a mortal with her memories intact. Her body remains the same, but she has no magical powers. If she dies, she is truly dead.
Theme: A pure heart lives forever.
