The successor to AFO was not, as anyone might have expected, Tomura Shigaraki, but Deku, the League of Villains' second-in-command.
When All Might asked about the first AFO, the answer he received was full of malice and pity.
"The boy is Quirkless."
The Symbol of Peace remembered the boy on the rooftop all those years ago. His eyes had been bright with hope, yet All Might's answer had been cruel and hypocritical.
Everything finally made sense.
But something was wrong with Black Deku, who had inherited AFO.
He had accidentally stolen someone's "affinity," and this Quirk seemed to be headed in a rather unfortunate direction with no turning back.
Black Deku: ...Could you take this seriously? I'm not a good person.
A: Oh, come on, let's die together~
B: I... want to save you.
C: Huh? I can handle that little thing all by myself. You just stay put.

The heroes and villains who should have been tormented by me until they were at death's door all seem to have become hopelessly devoted to me.
