After Faking My Death, the Brooding Protagonist Found Out

When Yan Shi'an was twenty-five, a friend entrusted him with the care of his fourteen-year-old son, Ji Lin, shortly before dying. His mother had died young, and his father worked away from home and was hardly ever around. Ji Lin had been raised by his grandparents, who spoiled him rotten. He was nothing but a little hoodlum. Yan Shi'an was terrified of dealing with children, especially one going through his rebellious, overdramatic teenage phase. He felt like the sky was about to fall. His grandparents wouldn't step in, so after exhausting himself, he finally got the boy on the right track. He happily thought that raising the kid to adulthood would be a fitting way to honor his buddy. But he never expected the boy to confess to him on his eighteenth birthday. Yan Shi'an was terrified and left for a distant place. Five years went by, Ji Lin got his life on track, and Yan Shi'an faked his own death. Ji Lin had been searching for him all these years. When he got the news, he rushed over to attend Yan Shi'an's funeral. Yan Shi'an thought that would settle everything. His true identity was that of an employee at the Plot Management Bureau. The original body's owner had died accidentally while drunk, and Yan Shi'an had temporarily stepped in to take his place. He'd planned to follow the script, put the male lead on the right track, and then leave. Who could have guessed something would go wrong, and the protagonist would fall in love with him? Yan Shi'an faked his death to get some peace and quiet, and to put an end to the other's feelings so he could get his life on track and marry his destined partner. He never expected the other man to show up at his funeral, intent on stealing his corpse. Yan Shi'an felt the sky fall all over again. The protagonist had been ill-tempered as a child, but Yan Shi'an had corrected him. He'd grown into a perfectly sunny, upbeat young man. What had happened to him in the years they'd been apart? Yan Shi'an was frantic, but he didn't dare show himself. He could only watch as the protagonist opened the coffin. Looking at the empty coffin, Ji Lin first breathed a sigh of relief. Then a wave of fury swept over him and swallowed him whole. He turned around and asked coldly, each word distinct: “Yan Shi'an, where is he?” Theme: Be brave enough to be yourself, love yourself, and love life
