[Foreign Country Series, Book Two]
Jia Xi is the lead singer of a rock band on its world tour, stopping in Belgium.
Lost in the wild cheers of the crowd, she misses a step onstage and breaks her leg.
She meets a fellow countryman doctor with handsome features and an elegant manner.
At her follow-up appointment, her injury is healing wonderfully. Xu Yiqing holds her leg, his expression gentle and his voice unhurried. “In two months, it's healed better than most people's would in three.”
Jia Xi touches the little bit of flesh on her stomach. Something seems off.
“Dr. Xu, after saying all that, you have to take responsibility for me!”
Jia Xi takes the opportunity to feign weakness and fall into his arms.
As if she weren't a strong-willed rock girl with egg-roll curls, a biker jacket, studded boots, and purple eyeshadow, ready to pound out a heavy beat at any second.
“Don't worry. I'll take responsibility all the way, hmm?”
Jia Xi's heart melts at his words.

Only after the lights go out that night does Jia Xi blush as she realizes what “all the way” means.

Xu Yiqing x Ji Jiaxi
