A hand reached out in front of Wen Ning.
Wen Ning took a closer look. It was a hundred-yuan bill.
Wen Ning: "???"
Several seconds passed in silence. Wen Ning asked again, "Why are you giving this to me?"
The person paused, then said, "Isn't it yours?"
Wen Ning was stumped. "How could it be mine?"
To her surprise, the person simply shoved the money into her hand and said, "Just keep it, anyway."
Wen Ning was baffled. "I don't take things I haven't earned."
What she was really thinking was: The weasel is paying the chicken a New Year's call. They must be up to no good.
The person seemed to give it some serious thought, then said, "Well, I gave it to you, so you can look after my kid tomorrow."
So they just didn't want to deal with their own kid and were trying to dump the responsibility on her. Wen Ning rolled her eyes, but hey, free money was free money.
That night, after showering, Wen Ning lay in bed thinking about the hundred yuan she'd lost that day.
She was truly crying her eyes out.
