After being reborn, Yun Shuyue resolves to stay away from power struggles. But her unusual lack of interest in competing catches the attention of Crown Prince Xiao Jingchen and Shen Tinglan, Commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard.
The Crown Prince sees her as a way to gain control over the Yun family and bears down on her at every turn.
Shen Tinglan senses a kindred spirit in her, and his surveillance and probing gradually give way to affection.
Caught between them, Yun Shuyue had only wanted to muddle through her days, but she is forced into a secret case involving both the former dynasty and the imperial harem.
When the truth comes to light, she realizes that her carefree ways in this life have long since fallen into someone's scheme.
That person used the land as a board and people's hearts as pieces, but somehow failed to account for their own heart.
