What? This proud, tsundere young man is both clever and handsome, and he's Yan Shifan? Is he really the Yan Shifan I know?
Don't the history books say that Yan Shifan was a sinister, deceitful, lecherous sycophant, and a big, fat man with one blind eye?
A modern science student is reborn as the son of a xiucai. Together with his childhood friend Yan Shifan, he takes the imperial exams and navigates the official world of the Ming Dynasty, making a name for himself. He witnesses history firsthand and sees the vivid lives of historical figures whose stories take up just a few short lines in the history books.
A reborn science student, struggling through the imperial exams, is the bottom; the proud and clever Yan Shifan is the top.
