A brave general x a beautiful mountain god

There was a mountain in the state of Yue, towering and magnificent, called Mount Fayue. When the ruler heard its name, he flew into a rage and ordered the mountain cleared and turned into farmland, then sent a general and his troops to cut a path.

The general had never lost a battle in his life and had never withdrawn an order for any reason. But one dusky evening, the mountain god straddled him, tears in his eyes, and cried, "Give me back my temple! Otherwise, I'll haunt your dreams every night and rob you of your peace."

The mountain god was beautiful without realizing it, and the general coaxed the young deity of Mount Fayue.

He promised not to cut down Mount Fayue.

He promised to care for the mountain forest.

He promised to rebuild the temple and ensure the god received offerings.

Later, perhaps he would promise to love him sincerely and never leave him, in life or death.
