The Buddha speaks of the Other Shore, where there is no birth or death, no joy or sorrow, no desire or longing. Yet there is a flower that lies beyond the Three Realms and outside the Five Elements. It grows on the Other Shore, without stem or leaf, in a dazzling crimson bloom. The Buddha says it is the Flower of the Other Shore.
