At just three hundred years old, Si Wan had reached the Great Ascension stage, just one step away from ascending to immortality. He was the undisputed light of the righteous path and the greatest swordsman of his generation.
When immortals and demons clashed in the cultivation world, Si Wan alone held back an army of a hundred thousand demons with his sword. He then fought the Demon Lord Ming Qianye atop Blackwater Peak, and the two of them plunged together into an endless abyss.
When he opened his eyes, Si Wan had become a powerless mortal, and not just any mortal: he was a cannon-fodder character on a dating show, a minor celebrity with a mountain of scandals and a terrible reputation who relentlessly pursued the male lead and had no chance with him.
When Si Wan first appeared, he was harassing the male lead and scheming to frame the male lead's love interest, only to be ganged up on by the latter's admirers.
The male lead's admirers plotted against Si Wan, arranging for him to be paired with a mysterious guest who had yet to appear.
Rumor had it that this mysterious guest came from an extraordinary background and was powerful and influential. He was aloof, low-key, cold, restrained, and rarely smiled. More than anything, he despised vain, foolish people like Si Wan who fawned over the rich and powerful.
Everyone was waiting for Si Wan to make a fool of himself.
But the moment the mysterious guest appeared, Si Wan's expression changed. He stared at the other man with cold, sharp eyes, because the guest was none other than the Demon Lord, Ming Qianye.

Once the show began, it was time for the contestants to solve a mystery and crack a case.
Other teams competed against each other for first place, but Si Wan's team started bickering among themselves, each trying to outdo the other.
The audience was ready to laugh at Si Wan for being disliked by his partner, but the two solved the case first, at the exact same time, then exchanged cold smiles.
Production crew and audience: Why do they suddenly feel like two dominant Alphas? And why are they kind of shippable?
Next came a round where they had to show how well they knew each other's likes and dislikes.
Everyone assumed the two who had been at each other's throats wouldn't have bothered to learn anything about each other, and were sure they'd embarrass themselves.
Instead, Ming Qianye leaned toward Si Wan with a cheeky smile, his eyes fixed on him. "Of course, what Mr. Si loves most is competing with me."
Si Wan gave a cool, mocking laugh and took half a step back with his arms folded, his whole expression saying, "Don't come near me." Yet without hesitation, he listed Ming Qianye's likes and personality.
The audience: We're going crazy over this ship. Which one of them is supposed to be cold, restrained, and humorless? Why does it feel like they've switched roles?
During a break, the male lead's love interest was impressed by Ming Qianye's height, looks, and exceptional abilities, and started telling him all of Si Wan's scandals.
Ming Qianye's smile vanished, his expression turning dark as he coldly grabbed the other man by the throat. "You don't get to judge him."
While exploring an abandoned village, Ming Qianye accidentally fell into a deep pit. Everyone else panicked and searched for help, but Si Wan was the only one who climbed down the vines to rescue him, scraping up his hands in the process.
"I just don't think a Demon Lord like you should die here."
Faced with Ming Qianye's profound gaze, Si Wan explained with a cold expression.
Much later, the two of them had long since adapted to life in the modern world.
The production crew came to interview the guests and asked about their relationship.
Si Wan said coolly, "We're just mortal enemies."
Ming Qianye sneakily wrapped an arm around Si Wan's shoulders, grinned, and said, "We're each other's one and only."
