The Maze

In the autumn of the Jia Shen year, the political situation was turbulent. Underground intelligence forces from every faction had occupied Jinling, and the fighting never stopped. The Lin family's Third Madam, a Jinling merchant, maneuvered among the various factions for the sake of money and property. By chance, she encountered an old acquaintance who had returned after completing his studies and taken a post as an undercover agent with the Military Statistics Bureau's disciplinary and investigation unit. In these chaotic times, how can one find a place to survive? Should one lie low or be driven by self-interest? Who will ultimately emerge victorious? Everything remains a mystery.

I've long wanted to write a spy story set in the Republican era, but there was so much historical material to research that I never dared to start. After thinking it over and over, though, I still wanted to tell the story of a woman in turbulent times, so I've finally begun. Updates may be slow. The focus is on espionage, with the romance developing gradually. I hope you'll give it lots of support.
