A Doomsday Powerhouse Becomes the Lord of an Interdimensional City

The apocalypse, year ten. Every human base has fallen, and zombies rule the world.

The apocalypse, year fifteen. The Eden Institute, hailed as humanity's last hope, is overrun by zombies. At the final moment, Dr. Su Liya, humanity's most powerful psychic, dies alongside the Zombie King.

Then Su Liya transmigrates into Su Liya Lane.

A countess who was disowned by her family for rejecting an arranged marriage and fobbed off with a desolate border city.

The Lane family is waiting coldly for Su Liya to bow her head and accept a political marriage.

The city's gaunt citizens are ready to quit, abandon the city, and seek a way to survive.

And she has her twin younger siblings with her, both driven out of the family alongside her.

Su Liya: ...

Later--

A Lane family elder asks, "Has Lily admitted her mistake?"

A servant replies cautiously, "...No."

The elder says coldly, "Cut off every trade route to Histan City!"

The servant says, "Grand Elder, the Countess has... already become the richest person in the empire."

*

The citizens of Histan know that ever since Countess Lane inherited the position of city lord, none of Histan's gates can be opened lightly, except for the northern gate leading to the empire. Open one, and it connects to a strange world, bringing strange people...

For example, there's a guy at the south gate flying around the city on a sword!

There's a guy at the east gate pointing a little iron box at them and staring intently!

Oh, right!

And there's that pale young man at the west gate who can make a bunch of monsters obey him and walk in circles!

The really infuriating thing is--

That guy always manages to make the city lord lose her head and become besotted with him! She neglects her duties and jeopardizes her path to becoming the richest person in the empire!

So the citizens of Histan roll up their sleeves and nail the west gate shut.

Citizens of Histan: Hah... There's no point connecting us to a world where supplies have run out and every living person has died, anyway.

Su Liya smiles, kicks open the west gate, and looks up at the young man standing amid the ruins of the apocalypse--

If they nail the gate shut, how is she supposed to keep researching how to turn zombies back into people?

How is she supposed to avenge herself?
