A guide to this unconventional novel:
1. The themes and plot are serious, with plenty of foreshadowing. It takes a while to get going and may be a little mind-bending (though I don't think so. I always thought I was writing a silly comedy), but the everyday details are lighthearted, as is the romance. Please read accordingly.
2. The plot is a faux sci-fi mystery, set against a sci-fi backdrop and following the protagonist's growth. It covers family, friendship, and romance. Told in third person, with important supporting characters (though maybe I'm the only one who thinks so).
3. I don't think it's angsty (...don't trust me on that), but it definitely has a happy ending (you can trust me on that). The love interest shows up late, in Chapter Eight. In my opinion, the male lead regains his memories pretty early (don't trust me on that...).
4. If you understand it, enjoy the finer points. If you don't, just enjoy the show. Read as you please. I'm very grateful.
